How to use CUNY+ to search for books and how to search for articles accessible via academic databases

How to search CUNY+ for book:
- Go to the LAGCC website http://www.lagcc.cuny.edu/home/, and click on Library.
- In the middle, in a column called Research & Find, click on Find books, videos, or CDs (CUNY+)
-Under Select search type:, select whether you want to search by subject (i.e. domestic work) or title of a book( i.e. Disposable Domestics: Immigrant Women Workers in the Global Economy) or author (Chang, Grace). Then in the space under Search For, enter the information and click Search.
[*To the right of Search, you'll see that the default setting is to search LaGuardia CC library only, but you can select other or all CUNY libraries to expand your search. But be aware that if you find a book in a different CUNY college, you'll have to request it and it will take few business days for the book to be delivered to LaGuardia for you to pick-up]
-From the results that turn up, select the one that looks most relevant, and click on LaGuardia under Availability to find out the call number for the book and whether it is at the library or has it been checked-out
-Write down the call number and retrieve it from the library

If you look at the articles I've included in the List of Possible/Suggested Research Sources, they are all accessible either via JSTOR, or Academic Search Complete, or Academic OneFile, or Sage Journals Online (ProjectMuse is another good database). All of these databases are accessible via LaGuardia Community College Library.

To access the articles via academic databases :
-Go to LaGuardia Community College Library website and click on Library
-In the middle column, under Research & Find, click on the second item, Find articles &books online(subscription databases)
-then click on Alphabetical List of Subscription Databases, which appears towards the top of the page, above the Select a subject to find databases on your topic
-click on J to find JSTOR, or A to find Academic Search Complete
-type in the name of the article's writer or title of the article and click Search
-or enter a phrase that expresses the topic you are interested in (i.e. men and domestic work, housework, double shift, ect.) and click Search

How to access LAGCC library from home or anywhere outside of LAGCC campus
- Go to the LAGCC website http://www.lagcc.cuny.edu/home/, and click on Library.
- In the window that opens, scroll all the way to the bottom, and click on Help.
- The fifth entry is Use the Library from off-campus: Your guide to logging-in from home; click on that and it will guide you through the steps to accessing the library.
