Important course policies you must follow

These policies are clearly outlined on your syllabus(the original and the copy available on the blog)

Attendance and Participation: Regular attendance and punctuality are of outmost importance. The English Department considers four (4) unexcused absences, that’s four hours not four classes, grounds for failing the course. If an emergency or extenuating circumstance should arise, please speak with me or contact me via e-mail. I’ll only excuse ONE absence, and only if you can provide necessary documentation (i.e. doctor’s note, court documents, etc.) PRIOR to the day of absence. If you need to miss class, you should e-mail me the night before explaining the reason for the absence. Arriving to class ten minutes late or leaving ten minutes early constitutes lateness; four instances of lateness will count as one hour of absence. Also, you are responsible for any work missed during your absence.

Assignments/ Late Papers: All drafts, except for the final draft, must be completed and shared via GoogleDocs. Only hard copies of final drafts will be accepted and graded. Final drafts will be evaluated based on content, clarity, structure, grammar/syntax, and MLA format. All drafts must be double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point font, and have one-inch margins. On the first page of a paper, in the top left-hand corner, you must include your full name, course and section, my name/instructor’s name and date. An additional page containing the list of work(s) cited (a Works Cited page), must accompany every draft.
Late papers will be marked down one letter grade for every class day they are late. So will papers which do not undergo peer review or their first drafts are not shared with instructor by the specified date. Only papers which receive a grade of C- or lower may be revised; this does not apply to papers penalized for lateness or failure to participate in peer review. Papers which receive a grade of F, except the diagnostic and final, should be revised. You have one week to revise a paper.

If you have any trouble completing any of the writing assignments, please go to the Writing Center in B-200 or see me during my office hour.
