I was about to go on about how dated this is and then I realized when it was published. Some things have changed, yes, but some things will always stay the same. I find that there are definitely women today who fight and thrive on becoming a strong figure in their field. I admire that. They should get equal treatment and equal pay. I have also found that there are still women who prefer to stay at home and assume the role of "stay at home mom." It all depends on the individual. Some women do appear to be "comfortable." I'm not saying its right or wrong, and who is to say that it is?
If a woman decides to abort a fetus, that is her decision regardless of the pressures of society and religion. There are those who strongly agree and then there are those who strongly oppose. It all comes back to the individual.
When ever the subject is human, outside of eating, sleeping, and defecating, NOTHING is 100% across the board.
Good point-Ortner notes that women are individuals and as such involved in culture. But what do you think of her analysis that women's participation in culture and society is coerced and supports the status quo?
