One part I specially agreed with of this article was Ortner agreeing to Chodorow's belief that women's association as being "feminine" is more social than actuality.(22) I believe that women are taught to be this way of being lesser than men, and I believe that men may have had to do with that placing.
The article also talked about the differences in cooking which lead me to think about Binh's role in Live-in cook. Levi-Strauss identified that cooks of a house are women because they care for the family while chefs who are cooks/gives orders to the cooks of a restaurant are men.(20) Which could possibly place Binh with the characteristic of a woman just by his occupation.
Nice connection to short story. Can you say more about how you see men as "having [something] to do with lesser placing of women"?
