I could use a little help with this one I'm still trying to figure it out.
"On whom I lay a Yellow Eye -
Or an emphatic Thumb -"
Emphatic means to show or give emphasis and The way Emily Dickinson uses Thumb might be in a different way, that im still trying to figure out.
"Though I than He - may longer live
He longer must - than I -
For i have but the power to kill,
Without - the power to die -"
I can see that the protagonist must die before his/her master, going back alone might lead to death for him/her. The only thing i can think about him/her not dying would be a replacement that would take over for the protagonist position and it would be as if he/she were never gone?
i believe " On whom i lay a yellow eye" means like a hawk or eagle for example. What happens once they set there eyes on you? they come swooping in for the kill and if your a threat then its over, you better hope you kill it first
