My Life had Stood-a Loaded Gun

The object of choice here is a Gun owned by a "master". Speaking of the journey they go through together and how the gun protects the man. Anybody who is a foe to the man is a deadlier foe against the gun as they have raw power. I like the 5th stanza which explains not only is the gun a deadly foe but that its so quick combined with the man that there is no second chance, after the first time your gone for the count. I do not really understand what " On whom i lay a yellow eye" on meant but if i had to guess i think it means an example like an Eagle, once they see you and set their gaze upon you there is no hope left for you

  1. Who/what is the speaker in the poem? Can you determine the speaker's gender? Is it an equal relationship between the 'master' and the speaker?
I like your interpretation on line 5, but why do you think the eye is yellow?
