Sweat by Daniella
It was a very disturbing for me to read this, because it is the epitome of a bad marriage. No one should subject themselves to such treatment. I don't understand how someone can continue to abuse the one who supports and takes care of them over and over. This has always baffled me. Delia works so hard slaving herself to keep the house that she lives in and Sykes has nothing better to do but break her down every chance that he gets. As if cheating isn't bad enough he physically and verbally abuses her. I was very happy when she picked up the skillet. Enough is Enough. Serves him right to be bitten up by the very snake he tormented her with.

Yes, this story presents a picture of an abusive marriage and ends with a bit of karma. But can you speak to how this relates to issues of domestic work and gender? Is there a role reversal in this story, as many of your classmates have identifies in the previous stories we read?
