Sweat

When Delia mentions that she knew that Sykes had brought the woman to their house, is that why he placed a snake at the door? To keep her from coming inside whenever he was with the woman? Delia did enter the house but maybe her screams were the warning that she was home. But he was showing that he was proud when he was with Bertha knowing that Delia was there, a bit confusing.

At the end, Sykes was bitten by the snake right? They described his neck being swollen, and it doesn't seem as if Delia does anything to help him or did she? If she didn't then he is reaping what he sowed as she mentioned earlier in the story. He set snakes in the house knowing that it frightened her, now it bit him instead.

  1. I think the snake makes an appearance before Bertha does in Delia's house. Look back to the story to check on this.
Do you think Delia helps him? Should she help him? If she doesn't, then is that out of character for her? In other words, what do we know about Delia which could lead us to believe she is selfless and helps others?
