To his coy mistress

In "to his coy mistress" i believe that their was a lot of amusement when it shows how a young man attempts to pursue this beautiful young women" For lady you deserve this state nor would i love at a low rate" (861) shows us how insistent this man is in pursuing this women. A man will promise a women everything as we see that this man does. I believe that this man is so persistent because he believes that their running out of time, maybe in his eyes he is getting older and wants to experience this love with this young women.

  1. Interesting, so do you think the speaker is older than the mistress? Any lines in this poem that support this? Does the man actually promise the mistress anything? Note that in the first stanza he continues to say "should" and "would" but does he every say "i promise"?
