The society has always believed that men are the stronger ones in the world, it has made them believe that they can be more challenging than us, women, not because they wanted to but because since years ago men has been categorize as the one that has to protect the universe.
In a world where we live now, this does not exist because nowadays women are better than men, I'm not saying this because I'm a women, in saying it because women were not only created to give birth as a nature thing, women pay the role of being the support in their families, they work as hard as men do.
I know that woman were created from the ribs of man, and that women are the ones that are supposed be at home taking care of the kids but now it does not matter who is identified as the mother, if it is man or woman. Both play important roles in society.
I agree with De Beauvoir when she says that woman were not only created to give birth or create new human beings and that women should not be enslaved to do the domestics roles.
There are many important women that have reached very high levels of important positions in around all the world and tha have been reconignized during all these years that is why that women should not categorized as nature because besides all, women can also do as much as men do.
You make an excellent observation that many women have attained powerful positions, and this shows that women cannot be reduced to their capacity to bear children. But I want you to think about the issue Ortner sets out to analyze in her article- "woman is...identified with...nature, as oppose to man, who is identified with culture"(12). How do woman's "body and its functions," her "social roles" and "psychic structures" locate her closer to nature (12)? What is natural about the relationship between women and home?
