"Sweat" response

Personally, I feel the man got what he deserved for playing around with a venomous snake. Snakes don't mess around. Much less when they are tired, hungry and hot from the sun. I think the snake embodied all the rage that Delia had built up inside of her, all those years of her getting cheated on and getting beaten. I'm surprised she didn't kill him herself.

  1. Is there any information about Delia- based on what we learn in the story- that it would be out of character for her to kill him? Or is she responsible for Sykes' death, as she does not go to his aid when he calls her?
